Director-General, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Joseph Habila Ponzhi Golwa, has appealed to Nigerians to be united and conceited in prayers for the safe release of the Chibok girls.
Golwa made the appeal at an event entitled Save Nigeria Child organised by Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution in collaboration with the NewsAfrica Magazine at the Africa First Lady Centre, Abuja.
He said the nation should also remember other children that were being held captive and in bondage through various forms of child abuse as they pray for the Chibok girls.
He, however, called all states of the federation to not only ratify the Child Rights Act, but to implement it “because the child is also created in God’s image like the adult.”
Children from various schools, including the orphanage homes, attended the event to give ear to the words of encouragement on how to keep peace and develop the habit of reading.
Winners of the essay competition organised at the event for the purpose of peace in the country were awarded during the event.
Publisher, NewsAfrica magazine, Mrs. Orairu Maxwell, also drew the attention of the children to the fact that reading habit was more important than other activities in their lives “because it will gear their heart towards further studies.”
