Community policing: IGP creates 3 area commands in Delta

The Delta state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim yesterday said three new area commands have been created in the state by the Inspector-General of Police, Idris Ibrahim.
CP Zanna, who stated this in Asaba said the creation of the new area commands was part of efforts geared toward bringing policing nearer to the grassroots in line with the policy on community policing.
The police commissioner noted that Delta state benefited from the approval of the creation of new area commands across the country.
According to him, “Delta state command is one of the beneficiaries of this laudable objective as it now has three new area commands namely, Agbor, Ozoro and Sapele, created from and added to the existing area commands of Asaba, Ughelli and Warri, making a total of six area commands in the state.”
The police boss, who was enthused with this development, described it as an ongoing process and noted that more area commands and divisions will in due course be created by the police hierarchy to enhance effective service delivery to the people.
He therefore called for the cooperation of the indigenes of the state for immediate and smooth take-off of the newly established area commands.
Zanna noted that, already, new area commanders have been deployed to the newly created area commands, saying the jurisdictions of the six area commands in the state have been listed.
