Inter-city bus drivers in Imo state yesterday blocked the popular Warehouse Roundabout in Owerri, the Imo state capital, over the government’s order that their buses should no longer ply the roads in the Owerri metropolis.
The Okorocha-led administration had, last month, mapped out a large area along Orlu Road from where inter-city buses should park and pick commuters to different areas in the state.
But this did not go down well with them as they felt that irrespective of the fact that they gave the governor massive support during the 2011 governorship poll, the governor still decided to treat them badly.
Inscriptions on their placards indicated that they were in dire need to have a chat with the governor on the issue as they barricaded the roundabout thus leaving vehicles from different cities like Aba, Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Orlu stuck in the traffic. This lasted about one hour before security operatives came and dispersed them without seeing the governor.
