Aso Mirror has a clear, informative and meaningful purpose as the voice of the indigenous people of the FCT. The media is used in creating awareness. The paper will be used to educate the people about government policies, especially at the local level.
“It will help to provide checks and balances of government policies. It will provide a platform for people to air their views. However, I urge the management of Aso Mirror to engage in investigative journalism. Abiding by the ethics of the journalism profession will make the paper not to go into extinction.”
Also speaking, Chairman/ Publisher of Aso Mirror Newspapers Limited, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, said the newspaper has the target of moving from a weekly to daily publication and will be the voice of the people, but without attacking the go government unnecessarily.
He said: “It is a tradition you have to unveil the paper to the world. It is a tradition. Because I am a community person and Also Mirror is community based, I didn’t take this program to the town. Aso Mirror is going to speak for FCT residents. It is going to be the voice of the voiceless indigenous people of FCT.
“We will not unnecessarily castigate government policies. We will draw the attention of the government to what to do. We are going to report on the people. We will assess the government and make recommendations for the development of the nation.
“Every major newspaper you see today started from somewhere, maybe from monthly to weekly, then daily. Aso Mirror is presently a weekly publication and available in newsstands. Gradually, we will move to publishing twice a week and then daily. It’s not something we will rush to as we want to provide quality content to our readers.”
