COAS decorates Army spokesperson, others

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai, yesterday decorated the Army Spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman, alongside some newly promoted senior officers to the ranks of Majors-General and Brigadiers-General, with a charge on them to rededicate themselves to duty.
Addressing the newly promoted officers at the conference hall of the Army Headquarters, Abuja, the Chief of Army Staff said promotion of officers in one the ways of motivating army personnel to be more efficient in their duties.
He said the officers that were promoted should count themselves lucky, as promotion is for deserving officers and soldiers that are dedicated to duty, hardworking and disciplined.
“I, therefore, urge you to be more dedicated and loyal to the nation and the army. You must see yourself as critical partners to my visions to have a professional responsive army in the discharge of its constitutional duty.
“You are count yourselves lucky. For those that cannot make it, they should not despair but work harder,” he said.
He expressed the army’s resolve to remain resolute to all pressure from the north and south and to combat insurgency and threats in every part of the country.
Speaking to journalists after his decoration, the army spokesperson thanked the COAS for the promotion and promised to continue to put in his best to serve the Nigerian Army and the nation.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian Army Council on Friday, last week, approved the promotion of 227 senior officers to the ranks of Major Generals, Brigadier General and Colonels.
