Coalition passes confidence vote on new Women Affairs Minister

The Coalition of Female Council Students of Nigeria has expressed confidence in the newly appointed Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, citing her wealth of experience as a catalyst for driving empowerment initiatives.

In a press statement issued Friday in Kaduna, the spokesperson for the coalition, Comrade Ubabatu Musa, lauded the appointment, describing it as “a step in the right direction.”

The statement read in part, “The Ministry under her leadership is in capable hands, set to build on her extensive achievements as the former Minister of State for Police Affairs.”

It noted that Suleiman-Ibrahim’s tenure “is expected to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by enhancing the lives of women, children, and individuals with special needs across Nigeria.”

“Her proven leadership and commitment assure us that the ministry will promote community safety, strengthen social welfare services, and foster inclusive growth,” it read further.
The Coalition, however, “anticipates collaboration between the ministry, non-governmental organisations, community leaders, and stakeholders to tackle social issues, promote gender equality, and protect the rights of women and children.”

“With this focus, we envision a Nigeria where everyone, regardless of gender, age, or ability, has equal access to social and economic opportunities.”

Recalling Suleiman-Ibrahim’s impactful tenure as Minister of State for Police Affairs, where she championed community safety and innovative policies, the Coalition emphasised that such accomplishments demonstrate her capacity for transformative governance.
