The Coalition of Concerned Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria has declared support for the re-election of Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim as the National President Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) ahead of the association’s upcoming election.
In a statement signed by the coalition’s national coordinator, Comrade Aminu Abbas Arabi, the group underscored Ibrahim’s “enthusiasm and passion” for advancing Nigerian universities and consolidating on key initiatives as pivotal to their endorsement.
The coalition highlighted several accomplishments under Ibrahim’s first term, including the establishment of an ultramodern SSANU national secretariat and a staff lodge, investment of N600 million for community welfare, and notable improvements in staff welfare packages.
Arabi also noted that Ibrahim had elevated SSANU’s presence nationally, fostered peace, and bolstered unity within the association.
“Currently, he is actively engaged in a joint strike with NASU, pressing for the payment of outstanding four-month salaries and demanding adherence to a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Government signed in August 2022.
“We pass a resounding vote of confidence in Comrade Ibrahim’s leadership and call on all SSANU members to re-elect him based on credibility, competence, and a proven commitment to unity and progress,” Arabi stated, urging members to support a leader focused on the association’s continuity and growth.
