Cleric nabbed over Advance Fee Fraud

Enugu State Police Command yesterday confi rmed the arrest of Bishop Ginika Obi of the City of Liberation and Comfort Ministry, Enugu, for advance fee fraud. A press statement by the Police spokesperson in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said the operatives of the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit arrested the cleric, weekend, in of a hotel within Enugu, where he was said to be taking refuge.

According to Amaraizu, “Before now, the suspect who hails from Unuaku Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state was a Bishop in charge of City of Liberation and Comfort Ministry, Enugu, and also the founder of an alleged fi nancial NGO known as Build Your Generational Organization where his victims are made to invest money with a hope of reaping a bumper fi nancial dividend.

“Th e suspect on noticing that police operatives are on his trail based on the complaint of allegedly swindling some investors various sums, amounting to over N500,000,000, against him, his wife and some of his pastors, left his wife in prison custody while he escaped and relocated to Asaba, Delta state, to avoid being nabbed by the operatives.” Amaraizu said luck ran out of the suspect on Saturday when operatives of the command, based on intelligence information, trailed him to a hotel at Amechi Road off Agbani Road, Enugu, where he was arrested.

Bishop Obi, who is now helping police in their investigations, claimed he never knew that his NGO would turn out in this way, the spokesperson stated. He said the Commissioner of Police in charge of Enugu state, Danmallam Mohammed, has directed a full-scale investigation into the alleged nefarious activities of the cleric and his businesses
