A senior civil servant, said to be a deputy director and serving with a federal government’ agency in Kaduna, was last night gunned down by suspected assailants in Kaduna, sources said in Kaduna.
The incident, according to sources, occurred in Kinkinau residence area, around Ungwan Mu’azu District of Kaduna South local government area of the state.
There are several versions as to how he was been killed. One version, according to a source who don’t want his name published, said: “The victim was shot dead in front of a shop while attempting to alight from his car to purchase some items at a shop near his house .
The shop owner who witnessed the shooting fainted because of the horror but was able to recover around 12 midnight.”
The second source also said: “The victim’s vehicle was abandoned by the assailants.
The victim was ambushed and shot dead in front of his house while waiting for the gate of the house to be opened. He shouted to his brother not to open the gate, upon realizing that he was being ambushed. I believe that is what infuriated the assailants, who pumped several rounds of bullets into his chest from his lying down position.”
As at the time of this report, there was no official statement from Kaduna State Police Command but chairman of residents of the area, Alhaji Musa Dan’azumi, confirmed the killing.
