Christmas: Muslim lawmaker distributes bags of rice to Kogi Christians

As Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, a member representing Kawura-Namoda federal constituency, Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji has distributed a trailer-load of 25kg rice to Christians in Kogi state to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship during the Christmas festival.

The Deputy National Coordinator, Christians Northern Nigerian Political Forum (CNNPF), Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, while handing over the bags of rice to the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other beneficiaries at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja on Sunday, said the gesture comes from a Muslim lawmaker to Christians in Kogi state to put smile on their faces during the Christmas festival.

Itodo stated that the idea of the gesture was to demystify the wrong notion created  around the Muslim/Muslim ticket of President Bola  Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima during the presidential election  with claims that the  aim was to  Islamise the country.

He said that the ‘Asiwaju For All’ is a non-governmental organisation sponsored by the lawmaker to improve the welfare of Nigerians, irrespective of religion or tribe.

“This is the first time a Muslim lawmaker boldly came out to give out seven trailers of rice to be distributed to Christians during Christmas festival. Each state of the North Central has one trailer of rice. Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji is not the richest among the lawmakers in the North but he  has distinguished himself as a man who has feelings for humanity.

“I am using this medium to call on political office holders either appointed or elected to always remember their people because governance is about selfless service, sharing and removal of poverty from the people especially those at the grassroots.

“The lawmaker has directed that the rice should reach Christians through CAN, orphans, widows and promised to sustain this gesture so that Christians can always enjoy the Christmas season.”

The Kogi state chairman of CAN, Special Apostle Adebayo Emmanuel, who received 500 bags of rice on behalf of Christians, described the gesture as a gift from God.
