Christmas: Miyetti Allah sues for peaceful coexistence

The leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), South East Zone, has advocated for peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in any part of the country.
The Zonal Chairman of MACBAN, Alh. Gidado Siddiki, in his Christmas message on Wednesday, said Nigeria would develop beyond measure when people begin to display the spirit of patriotism, tolerance and peace.

Siddiki, who praised South East Governors and their people for being accommodating, urged Muslim to extend Christmas greetings to Christians in their host communities and to always maintain friendly relations with them, irrespective of religion differences.
“Congratulating non-Muslims during their holidays is encouraged by Islam, and is in keeping with the noble manners introduced by Prophet Muhammad. Islam has acknowledged the principle of peaceful coexistence with all people, regardless of their faith.

“While thanking God for His mercies towards us, I want to appreciate the governors of the five South East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo for their strong belief in one Nigeria where Nigerians are at liberty to legitimately trade without undue bottlenecks consequent upon not being natives of designated places,” he added. Siddiki equally commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, the National body of MACBAN, the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant stakeholders for their commitment towards harmonious coexistence between herders and their host communities across Nigeria, adding that MACBAN in the south east were very optimistic of greater understanding and enhanced peace amongst countrymen and women in 2020 and beyond.
