As part of efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow at Bridge Head Onitsha, Anambra state, the state command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has entered into partnership with the Police and FRSC in Delta state to dismantle police checkpoints during Christmas and New year seasons.
The Sector Commander, FRSC, Anambra state, Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, who disclosed this in a statement signed by Mrs Margaret Onabe, Sector Public Education Officer, added that they also reached agreement with Anambra state Police Commissioner, Mr Nnaghe Obono Itam, to maintain a police presence on the axis of the Second Niger Bridge.
According to her, as a result of the collaboration, the measures to be implemented by them were removal of all checkpoints at the Head Bridge from December 18, 2024 to January 10, 2025, and establishment of mobile surveillance at the Second Bridge axis.
“Dismantling of all police checkpoints on the Delta side of the old Niger Bridge to facilitate free trafficking flow and provision of officers for joint traffic control efforts with the FRSC during the yuletide season.
“The FRSC Anambra State Command is committed to ensuring the safety of all road users during the festive period. Motorists are advised to cooperate with traffic management personnel and follow all traffic rules and regulations,” she stated.
