Christians should thank God despite recession – Rev. Siloko

By Ibrahim Ramalan

As yet another season of thanksgiving comes around, the Newlife Baptist Church Sun-city, Abuja has yesterday got immersed in an eventful session of thanksgiving while marking its 8th year Anniversary.
Ministering on the theme: ‘Unlimited Thanksgiving’, Rev. Tamaroebi Siloko anchored his teachings on the Philippians 4:4 – “Rejoice in the lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice.”
“Let the thanksgiving be endless, let it be unconditional. I mean don’t give thanks to God because you want Him to do something for you, not even because you want acquire something worldly. Give God thanks despite the condition in which you are,” he submitted.

“Thanksgiving supposed to be what we do in everyday of our lives, because God is faithful at all times. For us to be alive, even if the recession is on, one is still alive is worth thanking God. Some other countries have faced recession and people have died as a result, but for us a nation we are still standing is worth thanking God,” he emphasized.
He therefore urged the congregation and the entire Christians to give thanks to God endlessly and cultivate the habit of thanking God unconditionally.
The Rev. also expressed great pleasure over the milestone the church has covered within a relative short period of eight years, saying, “Our worshippers have grown astronomically to a larger number. Getting together this crowd of worshippers at the space of about eight years is quite gladdening.
“Miracles happened this year, especially on people who have had children this year. People have had new jobs this year, even as there is not job in the country.
“Our young ones gained admission and others graduated, operations that could have caused millions of Naira God did it himself free of charge,” so was dutifully explained by the Reverend.
Speaking further on the ‘Endless possibilities that comes through unlimited thanksgiving’, Rev. Siloko said, “no matter what is currently happening in the economy of this country, God is still moving the church forward. Things that seem impossible, that cannot be done, God is still doing them for us.
“Also, the church is not running the economy of the world. We have our own economy in heaven. We get all our supplies from there, by the grace of God.

Siloko therefore advised Nigerians to not lose hope in God, whatsoever. “We should not lose hope as a nation, we should not even put our hope in the government or in the ruling class. Rather, we should put our hope in Him.”
Shedding more light on this year’s turnout, Pastor Promise Iloba, who ministers through music in the church, said this year’s thanksgiving is much better than last year’s. “The crowd is unprecedented despite the recession, despite all the troubles.
“So we have no reasons as a nation, as a church to give God thanks, that’s why we tag this year’s celebration as ‘Unlimited Possibilities’. No matter what the situation is, don’t stop giving God thanks
On this year’s theme, Iloba believed that if one gives God praises without restriction, without boundaries, there won’t be bounds and boundaries to what one could achieve. “Nothing is stopping you from what you intend to achieve, by the special grace of God.”
