…Pays sensitisation visit to Adamawa
The executive secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has said pilgrimage under his watch would certainly experience rejuvenation.
He said this recently while playing host to the executive members of the Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria who paid him a courtesy visit , according to a press statement issued by the Commission’s head of media and public relations, Celestine Toruka.
According to him, pilgrimage would no longer be a jamboree; rather it would be spiritually rejuvenated and fulfilling.
The NCPC boss said the NCPC mandate “goes beyond pilgrimage as peace is also embedded as part of the Commission’s focus.”
“It is only where there is peace, there will be development. We will ensure we have peace among ourselves and interfaith,” he said.
He assured the Christian mothers that he would leave a lasting legacy in NCPC, adding that “we are going to leave indelible marks in the sands of time.”
He noted that the country “needs prayers, prayer for Mr. President and prayers for all our leaders in authority.”
Earlier, the national president of the Women Wing of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), Rev. (Mrs.) Uzoaku Williams, noted that the NCPC boss had been a formidable member of CCN.
She said his appointment was a well-deserved one, adding that he had done very well in interfaith harmony in Nigeria and had made history as the first member of CCN to occupy the exalted position of the executive secretary of NCPC.
In a related development, the NCPC boss paid a sensitisation visit to the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, at the Government House, Yola, in preparation for this year’s pilgrimage exercise.
He commended the governor for the massive infrastructure development in the state and for the peace and interfaith harmony being enjoyed by the people of the state under his leadership.
The NCPC Boss also supervised the on-going screening exercise for the state’s intending pilgrims and the level of preparations already made by the State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking, Adegbite said he was satisfied with the Adamawa state screening exercise and thanked the governor for supporting the state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board with all the necessary assistance for a smooth 2024 Pilgrimage exercise.
Earlier, the acting executive secretary, Adamawa state Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Angelina Tumba, thanked the NCPC boss for finding time to visit the state and flagged off the screening exercise.
