As Nigeria attained 57 years of existence as a nation, Christian and Muslim faithful have warned agitators to desist from preaching hate speech or anything that would promote the disintegration of the country.
Th e clerics gave the warning in their separate interviews with Blueprint in Zaria, yesterday.
Th e Arch Bishop of Anglican, Wusasa Diocese, Most Reverend Ali Buba Lamido and Chief Imam of Central Mosque, Zaria, Sheik Dalhatu Kasim in separate chats said Nigeria should remain as a corporate entity, adding that therein lied the strength and development of the country.

Th ey explained that the past leaders fought and died for the unity of the country, saying: “Th e disintegration as some groups are agitating to get their own state, will not help the matter but destroy the eff ort of the past leaders.
” Arch Bishop Lamido specifi cally affi rmed that it was only a roundtable discussion and dialogue with those who feel marginalised that would resolve the lingering issues in the country.
He stated that, what is most crucial is to bring everybody on board by inviting the aggrieved parties through their various representatives to explain the dangers involved in disintegration.

Th e clergyman advised the citizens to, in the interest of oneness; remove all emotions, sentiments, tribalism, ethnicity and regionalism and work selfl essly in order to remain for Nigeria to remain a united nation.
In his submission, Sheikh Kassim explained that the agitation for the disintegration of the country would not bring about any development to any group but setback and confusion.
He stated that the agitation was informed by what he termed as “injustice or lack of equity by those at the corridors of power”, adding that the citizens should think positively in the interest of peace.
