President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to allow foreign countries to come to the assistance of Nigeria in rescuing the Chibok school students has been described as “a wise decision.”
Speaking to Blueprint in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, on the issue, a foremost timber dealer who had served governors in the state in different capacities, Obi Royal Ukaigwe, said “this shows that the country has a good and intelligent president who has realised that he cannot fight the battle alone and needs help in order to save the school girls.”
Ukaigwe noted that Jonathan was not keeping quiet over the issue, but doing his job quietly, adding that the President “is not weak, but agile and does not make noise.”
Jonathan, he said, “is not a military man, but a core civilian.”
“What he is doing is the best and gradually, everything will calm down.”
The timber merchant re-stated his belief that the vice-president should still come from the North, advising that the incumbent vice-president had done well and should be retained by the President, come 2015 elections.
He said the campaign for another term for the president was appropriate.
