The CHAN Eagles on Sunday won their first test game ahead of a final 2025 CHAN playoff against arch-rivals Ghana later this month.
The home-based national team pipped Grassrunners FC 1-0 courtesy of a goal by substitute Papa Daniel of Niger Tornadoes.
Goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Sodiq Ismail, Nduka Junior and Sikiru Alimi from Remo Stars, Victor Collins from Nasarawa United who made the Super Eagles squad last month as well as the veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali started this contest.
The team opened training camp Wednesday in Ikenne.
The first leg of the final 2025 CHAN playoff will be played in Ghana on December 22 with the return leg six days later in Iyo.
The overall winners will advance to next year’s CHAN in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
