Certificate scandal: Lawyers petition IGP to investigate Bande

Lawyers to the All Progressives Repositioned For Greatness-Shettima Congress (APC) T.R. Agbanyi & Associates have requested the Inspector General of Police to investigate the circumstances leading to the issuance of an alleged primary school certificate to Aminu A. Bande.

In a petition to the IGP dated July 25, 2023 signed by

Terfa Raphael Agbanyi Esq, the petitioners said on July 15, 2022, the certificate was presented by Bande to INEC in order to fulfill requirements for eligibility to contest for the office of governor of Kebbi state under the PDP.

The petitioners said they observed that the certificate bears two dates at the foot  thereof, one purportedly to be the date he signed the certificate, while the second was the date on which the issuing authority (headmaster) signed it, December 10,

1987.

The petition stated the North-west state of Nigeria ceased to exist since

February 1976 upon the creation of Sokoto state, the said certificate was allegedly issued by the government of North-west state, while the pupil named in the certificate was alleged to have spent only six years as against the seven years period at the time.
