Celebrating the new Ptil of Madagali, Aliyu Danburam

As I reflect on Dr. Aliyu Danburam, who was recently appointed as the Ptil of Madagali by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri of Adamawa state, I am not surprised about the appointment as he belongs to the ruling house of Madagali.

Similarly, Dr. Aliyu Danburam is a medical doctor by profession. He attained the position of Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola where he served for eight years before he retired.

The new Ptil of Madagali joined the services of the medical centre after rendering his services to the defunct Gongola state now Adamawa state as a medical doctor at the state owned specialist hospital.

This writer is in a better position to let the world know who the new Ptil of Madagali is having interacted with him for solid 20 years. As a second class emir, it’s expected that he will reposition the traditional institution of Madagali as well as embolden the chiefdom to play a better role of integrating the people of Madagali, Gulak and Shuwa especially in the on dispute resolution at the community level.

His appointment is a gateway to greater opportunities for the people of the chiefdom.

The new Ptil of Madagali, Dr. Aliyu Danburam, has a unique way of leading the people as this can aptly be applied to his role as the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola. Accepting the appointment is a call for the progress of his people of Marghi extraction in Madagali, Gulak  Shuwa and other ethnic nationalities in the chiefdom.

Dr. Aliyu Danburam has the interest of the people of his domain at heart and he can go to any length to defend their interest and what they stand for. He has for a long time identified with the cause and problems of the people.

This writer recalls vividly when Boko Haram invaded Madagali and the neighbouring towns while he was in active service as the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola and the people found themselves as Internally Displaced Persons ( IDF). He went as far as to accommodate the people in his personal house at Dougerei and rented houses in Jimeta and Yola for them to stay.

The story of the new Ptil of Madagali is a story of a man so wise and brilliant who enjoyed exceptional grace of Allah. His family did not realise they have been gifted a child whose brilliance and expertise in medical field will be acknowledged beyond the shores of Madagali and even Adamawa state as a whole.

As we celebrate the new Ptil of Madagali, it’s also a call to action for all the people of Madagali, Gulak and Shuwa to support him towards building the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future for the chiefdom.

What set the new Ptil of Madagali apart is his deep connection to his people. His leadership style is characterised by empathy, listening and inclusiveness. His personal interactions with the people reflect his commitment to accountability.

He remains accessible to the people, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns addressed. His appointment was hailed by the people both the young and the old and the people have embraced it by adapting to change and give their maximum support for the new Ptil of Madagali to accentuate rapid transformation of the chiefdom in the quickest possible time.

Sir Ptil of Madagali, as you ascend the throne of your forefathers, I wish you many more years on earth filled with grace and blessings.
