CAN denies destroying Eid ground

CANChristian Association of Nigeria (N) in Kaduna state yesterday evening denied destroying Muslim Eid ground in the state.
Chairman of CAN in Kachia local government, Rev. Jesse Mallam, stated this when he addressed a press conference in Kaduna.
He added that Kaduna state government should as a matter of peace allocate an Eid-land to the Muslim community and relocates the Kachia town market.
He added that relocation of the Muslim praying ground would reduce suspicion and crisis, saying: “The Eid-ground should be relocated to a ground where it will not be used as a mark of instigating crises, because miscreants can still go and pull down the fence and still accuse the Christians of doing it.”

“The market should be relocated to a neutral ground, where miscreants will not take advantage of its position to enriching themselves via instigation of crises because the market served as a vehicle for unleashing terror on the economy of Christians.”
It also accused state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Umar Shehu, of deploying Kachia Divisional Police Officer out of his post ignoring the fact that he was a member of the inquiry committee set up by the state government to investigate religious crisis that erupted in the area last month.
“The Commissioner of Police Should as a matter of technicality withdraws his action. It will be incredible to have post out an officer in the midst of inquiry if the intention is not to distort facts.

“The Fulani should as a matter of peace cease from their attacks on Christians in all villages. The quest for creation of chiefdom should stop because there cannot be two kings in one city.”
“Therefore, crises should not be the basis for demand of chiefdom and Christians should not be mentioned for breaking the Eid-fence. Christians did not attack their Muslim brothers, rather, we were attacked.”
