Calling on Governor Abubakar Bello

Recently, the news streams, both conventional and emerging media, were full to the brim on the news of the sudden dissolution of Niger State Executive Council. I must concede that it is lawfully, legally and constitutionally the decision and responsibility of Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello (Abu Lolo), to determine who makes the membership of the state exco. He, no doubt, has the power to hire and fire in that regard.
However, I want the governor to do a thorough job in rejigging, reorganising and reconstituting the state exco for greater output and efficient delivery of his mandate and campaign promises. This is a critical lap in Abu Lolo’s first term, no doubt about that.
To me, and I am sure to many keen observers of Abu Lolo’s administration, the period from now to 2019 is more critical than 2015 to date.
It is in that regard that I write to align myself in support of the leaders and good people of Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area for the renomination of Hon. Ibrahim Kagara as the Commissioner for Finance, Niger state.
It may interest the governor to note that in life, as the Americans would ask, ‘if ain’t broken why fix it?’ Since the inception of Abu Lolo’s administration in May 2015, Kagara has proved his capacity in managing the state’s scarce resources in such a way that has earned Abu Lolo’s government the admiration and recognition of #LoloIsWorking. At the heart of every government’s success story is the effective management of public finance, expenditure and income or revenue sources. These have all been done to the admiration of many of us.
I have never met Kagara in my life or even by proxy. But I am impressed with the information I have gathered so far about him and the many achievements he recorded for the Abu Lolo administration. I have particularly noted the comments, with admiration, made by my many respondents who are from diverse background and different Senatorial Zones. I, therefore, want to appeal to His Excellency that those he needed most importantly in his soon to be reconstituted State ExCo are not those who have constituted themselves into a huge junk of liabilities for his administration since May 2015.
Bello must not throw away the baby with the bath water. By my principle, I hardly write in defence of politicians or political appointees. But I write this piece with patriotic zeal so that His Excellency would hear what I have gathered about Ibrahim Kagara.
