Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has received report from a seven-member committee on the proposed upgrading of the Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies (NAITES) Biu, to a Military University of Technology.

Receiving the report at the Army Headquarters, Buratai thanked the committee for doing a good job and for submitting the report at the appropriate time.
It would be recalled that the army leadership, last month, announced upgrading of NAITES, Biu, to a university and subsequent inauguration of a committee to ensure smooth take-off of the proposed institution, during the Chief of Army Staff First Quarter Conference in Maiduguri, Borno state.

The army chief said the University is being conceived as “a unique institution” that would be different from other conventional universities in Nigeria.
“The concept is to make it a solution provider and centre of excellence for a variety of technically related ventures such as power generation and armament production,” he said.
The committee was headed by Maj.-Gen. MA Efevbokhan (retd), while Col. A. O. Agwue served as the Secretary.
Other members include the Commandant of NAITES, Major General CO Ojo, Director-General of the Nigerian Army Education Corps, Brig.-Gen. LF Abdullahi, a senior lecturer at the National Defence College, Brig.- Gen. A Dadan-Garba (retd), Prof. UA Mohammed, Alhaji Kalli Kori.
