Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai on Tuesday decorated one Brigadier General to his new ranks of Major General and 22 Colonels to their new rank of Brigadier Generals.
They were among 141 senior officers that the Nigerian Army Council approved their promotions recently.
In statement by the army spokesperson, Col. Sagir Musa, said among the 141 officers 34 Brigadier Generals were promoted to Major General while 47 Colonels were promoted to Brigadier.
In his remarks after the decoration of the senior officers at the Army Headquarters Abuja, Buratai urged them to be more responsive to officers and men in their command.
“You should be above board when given higher responsibilities.
“You must be responsive to your troops and the challenges you come across. You must be responsive to training of troops in your formation and also to the call of duty.” He said.
The army chief also urged them to be prayerful at all times and leave all their affairs in the hand of God, as that will surely guarantee their success in life.
Earlier, the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Lt. General Lamidi Adeosun, said as Generals they are now decision makers and charged them to take decisions that are in the best interest of the Nigerian Army and the country as a whole.
