Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Tuesday returned to bullish run, appreciating by N130 billion as bull donated the market activities.
Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.22 per cent to N58.851 trillion from N58.721 trillion traded on Monday.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 215.63 points to 97123.61 points from 96907.98 points reported the previous day.
The positive performance on the market was driven by increased number of companies that closed in green. The gains in the shares of Access Bank, Conoil, FBNHoldimgs,Julius Berger outweighed loss in the shares of Nigerian Breweries, MTN Nigeria, Oando United Bank for Africa and among others.
As a result, year to date return increased to 29.89 per cent as 26 companies closed in positive direction against 21 firms that closed in red.
An analysis of the investment showed that Conoil led gainers table appreciating 9.93 per cent to close at N208.10 per unit, JohnHolt followed with a gain of 9.92 per cent to close at N3.99 per unit, United Bank for Africa and Eunisell appreciated by 9.87 per cent each to close respectively at N35.05 and N6.79 per unit, PZ added 8.48 per cent to close at N24.95 per share.
On the contrary, Oando Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by 9.95 per cent to close at N72.65 per unit, Daar Communications trailed with a loss of 9.68 per cent to close at N0.56 per share, Regal Insurance dipped by 6.52 per cent to close at N0.43 per share, Veritas Kapital declined by 6.25 er cent to close at N1.20 per unit, Guinea Insurance down by 4.26 per cent to close at N0.45 per unit.
Volume of trades increased 2.380 billion, representing 194.60 per cent as investors traded 3.603 billion shares valued at N25.569 billion in 10679 deals.
Trading in the shares of Sovereign Trust Insurance led market activities with 2.499 billion shares valued at N1.424 billion, NEM Insurance followed with 563.765 million shares cost N3.948 billion, United Bank for Africa traded 201.959 million shares worth N6.738 Billion, Zenith Bank exchanged 46.355 million shares cost N1.959 billion while Veritas Kapital traded 34.355 million shares worth N41.989 million.
