Bulls on rampage as equity market increases by N70bn

Transactions at the nation’s equity market yesterday gained N70 billion. Th e Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE market capitalisation of listed equities grew by 0.72 per cent to N9.714 trillion from N9.644 trillion traded on Wednesday. Th e NSE All Share Index increased by 201.19 basis points to 28101.63 points from 27900.44 traded the previous day. Investors exchanged 353.144 million shares worth N9.162 billion in 4034 deals against 371.455 million shares valued at N3.490 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3910 deals.

A breakdown of the investment showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day, growing by N9.95 kobo to close at N835.00, Total Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N5.00 to close at N270.00, Seplat Petroleum Development gained N4.20 kobo to close at N350.00, Guaranty Trust Bank advanced by N0.90 kobo to close at N31.60 kobo, Zenith International Bank grew by N0.87 kobo to close at N17.97 kobo. Mobil Oil recorded highest lose for the day, shedding N16.60 kobo to N315.40 kobo, Nigerian Breweries trailed with a loss of N2.76 kobo to close at N145.24 kobo CCNN fell by N0.22 kobo to close at N4.78 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc declined by N0.15 kobo to close at N19.30 kobo, Nascon down by N0.11 kobo to close at N8.39 kobo.

Further analysis showed that Zenith Bank was most active for the day, trading 63.207 million shares worth N1.125 billion, FBNHoldings followed with account of 35.747 million shares cost N143.726 million, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria followed with a total of 30.529 million shares valued at N35.703 million, United Bank for Africa traded 30.073 million shares worth N209.880 million, Diamond Bank sold 23.350 million shares valued at N21.959 million.
