Buhari’s policy thrusts to form part of Reps’ legislative agenda-spokesperson

President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy thrust of fighting insecurity, corruption and employment creation, would form an integral part of legislative agenda of the current House of Representatives, it has been disclosed.

According to the chairman of the house’s ad hoc committee on media, Hon Khadijah Buka-Ibrahim, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila gave the assurance in Lagos, during an event organised in his honour by his constituency.

She said going by the speaker’s resolve to personally visit some federal constituencies in the nation’s troubled states, the move would commence soon with Gbajabiamila visiting Borno and Zamfara states respectively in the coming days.

She said the move, which would be “historical” and first of its kind, “shows that we are advancing”, even as the committee gave assurance that the 9th assembly would soon unveil its legislative agenda.

“The speaker has reemphasized that the 9th assembly would be a reformist house. It is going to a united house, because he has demonstrated that we don’t need to be in one (political) party to agree on issues. We all working for the common good of Nigerians”, she noted.

Also on the sharing of other principal offices of house, the committee explained that nothing has been arrived at by the political parties that formed the current House, as it appealed for patience from Nigerians.
