President Muhammadu Buhari has resumed official duties at the Presidential Villa in Abuja after a Sallah break in Daura, Katsina state.
The President had a couple of engagements during the Sallah break.
He received a number of high profile visitors including Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman and had a meeting with some of his classmates.
While in Daura, the President also received associations of farmers, businessmen, youths, elders and politicians from Katsina state.
Addressing the youths, the President assured of his continuous commitment to serving the nation.
He said he returned to the country with renewed hope and strength to pursue policies that would improve the livelihood of the people, and reposition Nigeria for good.
“Considering the challenges we are facing as a nation, we have been doing our best to provide sustainable solutions, and we will keep doing our best. I am happy you came here today, and I am thankful for all the prayers. You are leaders of various groups at the grass root, and you are closer to the people so you understand these problems as well. We need your support,” he said.
On Tuesday, the President also received President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic.
He said the real impact of coming out of recession would be better felt when ordinary Nigerians experience a change in their living conditions.
“Until coming out of recession translates into meaningful improvement in peoples’ lives, our work cannot be said to be done,” he said.
The president said he was “very happy” to hear the country was finally out of recession, adding that the real gain should be improved conditions for Nigerians.
Responding to questions from newsmen, the President said: “Certainly, I should be happy for what it is worth. I am looking forward to ensuring that the ordinary Nigerian feels the impact.”
He commended all the managers of the economy for their hard work and commitment, stressing that more work needed to be done to improve the growth rate.
