Buhari meets Saraki, signs 8 bills into law

 Receives Ghana’s President-elect

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday had a close-door meeting with President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The meeting, which took place at the President’s office lasted for about 45 minutes. Details of what transpired during the meeting were not made known as at press time.
The President also signed eight bills into law after a meeting with the President of the Senate including the National Judicial Institute Amendment Act, 2016; and Advertising Practitioners Registration Amendment Act, 2016.

Other bills signed into law by the President are Utilities Charges Commission Amendment Act, 2016, Quality Surveyors Registration Amendment Act, 2016; and Small and Medium Scale Industries Development Agency Amendment Act, 2016.
Others include Treaty to Establish African Economic Community Relating to Pan African Parliament (Accession and Jurisdiction) Amendment Act, 2016; University of Abuja Amendment Act, 2016 and Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers Amendment Act, 2016.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, told State House correspondents that the eight legislations were now laws enforceable in the country.

He commended the National Assembly for cooperating with the executive arm of government since the beginning of the present administration.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari also yesterday had a close-door meeting with the President-elect of Ghana, Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo.
Speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting, Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo said he was in Nigeria on private visit.
The President-elect said he would deepen relationship with Nigeria when he assume office on January 7, 2017, stressing that his meeting with the President was fruitful.
“I came on a private visit to Lagos on Sunday to participate in the Future of Africa Awards and I thought it is proper that I take that opportunity to come to Abuja to pay my respect to the President. But in the meantime, I have come to introduce myself to President Buhari so that we begin to know each other.
