Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), Abdullahi Adamu said it would be impossible for the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the report of the national political conference convened by former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
He similarly accused the ex-president and his supporters of being unfair to president Buhari for agitating for the implementation of the report.
Abdullahi Adamu revealed this yesterday at the opening of a 2-day retreat of the Forum in Katsina.
He said even the former president did not believe in its work, explaining that “Jonathan effectively sealed its fate since the conference report is not the open sesame to restructuring the country.”
According to him, it would be unfair to ask President Buhari to implement a report to which he was not a party, adding that the APC –led government was not privy to its underlying philosophy or its primary objectives, asking “where then would he start from?”
He said some of the agitators for restructuring were urging president Buhari to implement the report of the Jonathan conference thinking that the country’s political and economic future lies dormant now in the report, noting that such a perception “is a fallacy borne out of ignorance.”
He said those who put their trust in the report have not even read it, insisting that, “there is nothing radical in the report of the conference.”
The Forum chairman further said the Senate must interrogate the legitimacy of the conference itself, saying: “was it convened in accordance with the extant laws of the land?”
