President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of 26 governing board of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
The Minister of Transportation Hon Rotimi Amaechi during the inauguration on Thursday in Abuja said the board is expected to set out its parastatal ‘s economic , operational administrative policies in accordance with Government policy.
The policy, according to the minister is aimed at assisting the Cooperation to achieve its mandate.
He said it is also in order to foster an economy that is robust , transparent , accountable in line with the international best practices.
He also charged them with the responsibilities for measuring performance against targets and introducing broad policy measures that will curtail any deviations to ensure that the targets are achieved.
He said it is expedient for them to note the need to engender harmonious working relationship with the management of the cooperation so as to achieve the objectives of the government.
He charged them to acquaint themselves with relevant government circulars and directives on relationship of Board with their agencies for a good and harmonious working relationship.
In response , the Chairman of the governing board Engr Ibrahim Alhassan assured to work together to ensure that Nigerian Railway Cooperation targets are achieved .
