The Adamawa state Commissioner for Education and Human capital, Dr.Garba Umar Pella, has urged all development partners working in the state to bring more dollars to Adamawa education sector to tackle the challenges in the sector and change its narrative in 2025.
The commissioner made this appeal Wednesday in Yola while speaking at this year’s Adamawa Education Annual Review Meeting/ End of the year party with Development partners and other stakeholders in the education sector.
He stated that Adamawa is safe and conducive for all development partners to come and contribute their quota in the education space of the state.
“Yes, what we are saying is that, for every dollar that is there, that is available in the education space, we need the dollars here in Adamawa state. So, if they can bring all the money that is in the developed world to come and turn the fortune of education sector in Adamawa state, we will be happy as a government because we know that government cannot do it alone. So, we want every partner working in the state to know that Adamawa is safe and conducive for contributions,” he stated.
He stated further that the meeting is an opportunity for them to sit down with their partners and other stakeholders in a relax environment to socialise, network and appraised themselves and discussed more opportunities that await the sector in 2025, having work hard throughout the year to deliver on their responsibilities and commitments through strategic partnership.
“This is simply our own little way of closing the year in a grand style with partners working in the education space of Adamawa state. We have worked throughout the year on the side of the government and on the side of the development partners. So, having worked throughout the year, we reflected on the fact that, the best way to appreciates our partners is to come together to interact, appraise ourselves and set the targets for next year.”
Dr. Pella further noted that education is a critical social sector that requires huge investments and government alone cannot adequately fund the sector amid competing demands, hence the need for development partners and other stakeholders to join hands with government to move the sector forward for the betterment of all.
The commissioner assured that his door is always open for any partner who want to partner with the ministry to change the narratives of the education sector in the state and reiterated the commitment of the state government to provide conducive atmosphere for sustenance of the partnership.
He added that the state government holds their partners in high esteem and will continue to accord them their deserving honour and dignity in the relationship.
He then implored all partners to work harder next year to tackled some of the challenges in the education sector of the state, adding that both the government and the partners have done their best with so many achievements recorded, but that there is the need to put more efforts next year to overcome the remaining challenges.
