Breaking: Tinubu back to Nigeria after private visit to France

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Tuesday night returned to Abuja after a 12-day private visit to Paris, France.

The President on Wednesday, January 24, departed Abuja for Paris for a private visit.

Special Adviser to the President Media and Publicity Chief Ajuri Ngelale announced the trip to France in a statement in Abuja.

“President Bola Tinubu departs Abuja for Paris, France, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, for a private visit. He will return to the country in the first week of February 2024,” the statement said.

The visit to France was the second for President Tinubu since he took office in May 2023.

During his initial trip in June of the same year, the President attended a significant gathering in Paris with global leaders. They focused on the establishment of a New Global Financial Pact aimed at prioritizing support and investment for countries particularly susceptible to the ravages of climate change, the ongoing energy crisis and the residual effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout this two-day summit, discussions centred on creating fiscal breathing room for nations grappling with pressing financial constraints, particularly those heavily indebted.

Additionally, the summit also explored innovative funding methods for nations at high risk of climate change, promoted development in lower-income countries and sought to spur investments in sustainable “green” infrastructure, particularly in emerging and developing economies.
