Breaking: Setback as Immigration postpones roll out of new 10-year-old e-Passport

Contrary to expectation, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the postponement of new 10 year enhanced e-Passport earlier scheduled to roll out this month.

Making the announcement through a statement signed by the service spokesman, DCI Sunday James, Monday in Abuja, quoted the Comptroller General as expressing regret for the postponement.

“The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, MFR, regrets to inform the general public that the roll out of the new 10 year enhanced e-Passport has been rescheduled to 29th April, 2019 to finalize the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN) with the new Passport.

“Consequent upon this, the price of the current passport still remains the same and applicants are encouraged to visit our website at www.immigration.gov.ng for further information on fees payable and application processes.”
