Hours to inauguration of the 10th National Assembly and election of its principal officers, the aspiration of Senator Godswill Akpabio for presidency of the Senate got boosted Monday with total endorsement by the entire 15 Senators – elect from South East.
Endorsement of Akpabio by the South East Senators-elect collapses aspirations of Senators Orji Uzor Kalu and Osita Izunaso for the same position and depleted the camp of Senator Abdulaziz Yari who is also rooting for the position.
Earlier, before the endorsement by the Southeast Senators, the immediate past President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, had during his visitation to the State House, declared his support for Akpabio.
Confirming the latest development, the Director-General of Godswill Akpabio campaign Senator Ali Ndume said that majority of the Senators-elect from north are now queueing behind the former Akwa Ibom state governor.
