Breaking: Fresh hurdle for Diri, PDP as another Bayelsa guber candidate strikes

Incumbent Governor of Bayelsa state Duoye Diri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are up to another round of Judiciary hurdles after the governorship Candidate of the Liberation Movement (LM) in the 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa State, Vijah Opuama, asked the Petition Tribunal to disqualify newly sworn-in deputy governor, Mr. Lawrence Ewrujakpor.

Opuama, who filed a petition through his lawyer, Aluzu Ebikebuna, also prayed the court to cancel the November 16, 2019 governorship election and order a fresh poll.

He alleged that the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to comply with the 1999 Constitution.

INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa state governor, Douye Diri, and his deputy, Lawrence Ewrujakpor, are among the respondents listed in the petition.
