Breaking: Emefiele drags DSS to court

The suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has taken legal action against his detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).

In his plea submitted on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, Emefiele is seeking the court’s intervention to uphold his fundamental rights of liberty and freedom of movement, as he asserts that there are no justifiable grounds for his prolonged confinement.

However, both the Attorney General of the Federation office and the DSS stand firm in their position that the continued detention of the suspended CBN Governor is legally justified.
