Breaking: Amaechi’s CSO dies of electric shock in Kaduna hotel


It was a black day for families and staff of the Ministry of Transportation following the death of the Chief Security Officer to the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Mr Tony Iwelu.


 Mr. Iwelu was reported to have diec as a result of electric shock from a shower on February 17, 2020, at about 10:30 a.m in his hotel room in Kaduna.

An aide who pleaded anonymous confirmed the story, described Tony Iwelu as a lovely fellow and very diligent, adding that his death is a great loss to the Ministry of Transport, his family and the nation at large. 


He said that though death is inevitable, it was sad that Tony died as young man full of energy, prospects and with so much to offer Humanity. 


He further noted that the deceased initiated the Tony Iwelu Foundation, as a platform to help the poor and support the needy.

Also, the Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside says Mr. Tony Iwelu’s death is a painful experience in recent times.


 “One of the most painful experience in recent times. How else can we explain that life is like a vapour? “Tony was a wonderful person. May Tony’s soul Rest in Peace,” Dakuku said. 

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport, Saibu Zakari, on his part prayed for the repose of Mr. Iwelu’s soul. Zakari said: “May Tony’s soul rest in perfect peace. We really lost a very good and hardworking friend. 


“I called Tony two times at 7.26am and 7.30 am yesterday but no response. That indeed was not Tony’s character. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.
