Breaking: 6 died, 7 injured in Ogbomoso-Ilorin road



No fewer than 6 person Sunday met their untimely death in an accident involving a truck and a commercial bus at Abuduka area along Ogbomoso- Ilorin road in Oyo state.


Also in the accident seven persons were injured and rushed to the Ladoke Akintoka University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Teaching hospital for treatment.


It was learnt that the accident occurred at about 10am when the driver of truck lost control when the vehicle (truck) suddenly developed break fault while about to negotiate a bend.


According to an eye witness, it was at this juncture that the truck rammed  into a fully loaded 18 seater commercial bus coming behind it resulting in the death of the 6 persons.


The eye witness sources added that there are others in the commercial bus that are presently in coma, saying, “I am not sure if any of the passenger in the bus can survive though, not all are dead but the ones alive are in coma.”


It was gathered that attempt by the people of Abuduka at apprehending the driver of the truck over the ghastly accident failed as he reportedly forced his way out into a nearby bush and escaped from the area.


The witness said, “when people tried to apprehend the truck driver he brought out knife threaten to stab anybody who dare move closer before he took to his heel

Confirming the accident , Oyo state FRSC Corp Commander, Mrs Chukwura Uche Chidima said five male adults and one female adult lost their lives in the accident.


The FRSC Corp Commander also discloosed that 7 other  passengers in the bus were injured and rushed to the LAUTECH teaching hospital by men of the Oyo FRSC command for treatment.
