Borno PDP elects new executive

The crisis in Borno state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP may have ended as the party, weekend, elected its new executive members to pilot its affairs for the next four years, following a state congress.
The election was conducted at the party’s secretariat in Gombe by the of the electoral panel, Alhaji Garba, who told journalists that four state executive members were elected by the delegates from the 27 local government areas of the State.
Garba said the party held the congress in 27 local government areas last month, except in Bayo and Shani local government areas where congress was not held due to the crisis that erupted in the areas thereby making the exercise inconclusive.
He announced that Zaina Gaddama Mustaph was elected chairman of the party with 553 votes as against the 525 scored by Usman Mahadi Badeiri, while Baba Ahmad was elected secretary, Hajiya Kelu, women leader and Baba Abba Sharif,youth leader of the party, respectively.
Addressing party members, North east zonal secretary, Kabiru Bappah Jauro, urged them to put their challenges behind them and forge a common front ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking with journalists after he was sworn-in the new party chairman, Mustapha, described the congress as successful, adding that his emergence would usher in a repositioned and better PDP in the state.
He assured the party members that a reconciliation committee would be up to ensure permanent peace in the state chapter of PDP by all the aggrieved party members back to the party
