Presenting the items through the deputy governor Alhaji Zanna Umar Mustapha, chairman Comrade Titus Abana, said the effort was in recognition of the sufferings and hardships the Borno people and internally displaced persons have suffered in the hands insurgents.
He added that it was also to support the state government and other individuals and organizations, who have assisted the IDPs in one way or the other to complement their efforts.
According to him, over 200 bags of rice, 100 cartons of spaghetti, toiletries, drugs, plastic buckets, kettles, leather mats, bags of salt and confectionaries were items donated.

Responding , the deputy governor commended the efforts and concern of the labour unions and urged them to continue the good things they have been doing to the state.
He also appealed to the members of the NLC and TUC to also rally round their leaders, whom he described as competent and dedicated leaders, who always struggle for the interests of their members.
Mustapha also urged other unions to emulate the NLC and TUC,  that the welfare of the IDPs was not  a burden of the state government alone, stating that the state had spent over N200 million so far on the IDPs.
