The Governor of Borno state, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
A press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the governor gave the commendation, Friday, at the Borno State Government House, in Maiduguri.
He said the Governor Zulum, in a move to significantly bolster the operational capabilities and improve the welfare of police personnel and other security agencies in Borno state has donated a fleet of new vehicles and housing units.
The FPRO, noted that the IGP commissioned the fleet of vehicles and housing units in an
event which hosted the police boss as the special guest of honour.
He said the IGP and the entire police force were commended for their remarkable efforts in the overall security of the country.
According to Adejobi, the IGP accompanied by the governor of Borno state, Senators and other dignitaries, commissioned 110 operational vehicles meant for the NPF and the Armed Forces, as well as 500 motorcycles to enhance the operational mobility of the security operatives and response time to security challenges across the state.
He said 40 newly constructed housing units were commissioned, in addition to 230 units previously allocated to the NPF at the Mai Mala Buni Housing Estate.
The spokesperson said Governor Zulum emphasized his administration’s commitment to supporting the police in their mission to secure Borno state.l: even as he highlighted the importance of providing officers with the necessary resources to effectively carry out their duties. On his part, IGP Egbetokun appreciated the Borno state government’s support for the NPF and underscored the Force’s dedication to improving security operations and the welfare of its officers.
“The IGP noted that the new operational assets would significantly enhance rapid response capabilities, while the housing units would serve as a motivation for officers, boosting their dedication to duty.
“The collaborative effort between the Borno state government and the NPF demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing security and improving the living conditions of police personnel, ultimately contributing to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Borno state,” Adejobi declared.
