Borno flooding: Ambassador Salau condoles with Shettima, Zulum

The coordinator of Tinubu/Shettima 619 Coalition Groups in the defunct APC Presidential Council in the build-up to the 2023 presidential elections, Ambassador Abdulmumin Salau, Sunday, condoled with Vice President Kasim Shettima and Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum over the recent flooding which submerged Maiduguri, state capital causing loss of lives and property.

Ambassador Salau in a statement, said: “This is indeed a time for all and sundry committed to the Nigerian project to identify and send words of empathy to the government and people of Borno state as well as other states having similar challenges on flooding. May Allah (SWT) comfort you in this period of grief, which has drawn global attention to the affected states.”

 He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for rising to the occasion by providing succour and resources to some of the affected states, aimed at ameliorating their plights.

Salau said the president’s urgent intervention showed true love, compassion and solidarity to the states in the distress.

On the issues of the economic challenges facing the nation, Ambassador Salau commended President Tinubu on his directive for reduction of electricity tariff for higher institutions across the country, aimed at providing a conducive environment for learning as well as having a stable academic calendar.

He also lauded the president’s move to remove tax on some essential commodities by Nigeria Customs Service such as rice, millet and others. He said the actions are human face policies aimed at making Nigerians have a new lease of life.
