Book launch: Malami a great humanitarian supporter – Minister

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has commended the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Dr Abubakar Malami, SAN, for his contribution towards the growth of the humanitarian ministry.

She made the commendation in her goodwill message at the launch of his autobiography titled Traversing the Thorny Terrain of Nigeria’s Justice Sector; My Travails and Triumphs, held on Thursday at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

A  statement signed by her special assistant on Media, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, Thursday, Farouq described the role of the Minister of Justice  as a difficult terrain which he has steered with diligence and unequalled sacrifice.

She said: “As the chief law officer of the federation, the guardian of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the representative of the federal government in all legal proceedings, the role of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice is no doubt one of the most important and difficult portfolios in the Public Service.

“I have known Dr Malami as an astute and conscionable gentleman right from our days as members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). These attributes endeared him to his colleagues and anyone who worked with him. His appointment as Attorney-General of the Federation by President Muhammadu Buhari whom he worked for in CPC therefore came as no surprise to me and those who knew him.”
