There was uneasy calm in some public schools in Edo state on Thursday over rumoured Boko Haram attack and alleged abduction of pupils.
As the news filtered into two, Parents hurriedly left their work places and trooped to the schools in the state capital to take their children home.
Some terrified parents said they heard rumors alleging that the Boko Haram terrorists stormed some schools, abducted and killed five persons including two teachers and three female primary school pupils in a school.

However, the state police public relations officer, DSP Noble Uwoh, described the speculation as unwarranted.
Uwoh denied the presence of the terrorists in Edo and warned citizens against spreading false information that could threaten public peace and security.
He, therefore, advised the people to shun such rumors and go about their normal businesses as the lives and properties of all in Edo was safe with security agencies on full alert across the state.
