Suspected members of dreaded Boko Haram sect, on Friday night, slaughtered three firewood and charcoal sellers at the outskirt of Dala Alamdari ward of Maiduguri, Borno state.
Sources said, the victims were among the six persons who went to a nearby bush at the outskirt of the city to fetch firewood, but luck run out of them as they clashed with suspected fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.
They were said had gun down one of them after slaughtering two people, while three others escaped as they run back home to tell the story to their loved ones.
The source added that, upon hearing the sad news, members of vigilante group the civilian JTF mobilised to the scene where they met three of the firewood dealers dead, two with their throats completely cut-off from their bodies in a pool blood.
A resident of Dala, who participated in the burial of the slain firewood dealers, Mallam Usman Ali Dala confirmed the incident.
“Yes three people including one of my neighbours were among those killed by the terrorists when they went to a nearby bush to scavenge for firewood to sustain their immediate family needs.
“We buried them on Saturday according to Muslim rites”, Ali Dala said.
A top security source, who is not authorised to talk to the press also confirmed the incident, pointing out that the terrorists that clashed with the victims were suspected to be among those who were running from the military raid in Sambisa forest.
