Boko Haram kills 14 in Borno

No fewer than 14 people were killed in Jibwhiwhui village of Hawul local government area of Borno state yesterday and its surrounding villages when gunmen suspected to members of Boko Haram sect invaded the areas.
A resident, who does not want his name in print, told our correspondent on phone in Maiduguri that the gunmen stormed the villages on Thursday night killing seven people before moving to the other surrounding villages and killing another seven people again.
He said the operation lasted till 5:00am on Friday morning without any intervention or counter attack by the security operatives in the area.
He said the gunmen, who arrived in Jibwhiwhui at about 10:00 pm, started with the entering houses picking the occupants and shooting them to death in the presence of their family members.

An indigene, who resides in Maiduguri, told Blueprint that he was told that the gunmen came to the villages on motorcycles and when straight to the houses of the villagers where they killed them before moving to the nearby villages and killing more people.
He said the Boko Haram insurgents killed three children and his uncle, but he could not travel to the village for, condolence due to the security reason that had deprived people living outside the areas to travel home.
He also added that his cousin brother whom they were from the same family had already gone home, but passed through Damaturu, Potiskum, Gombe, Biu.

Efforts to get the Borno state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Gidoen Jibrin, for confirmation the incident proved abortive, as his phones were switched off at the time of filing in this report
