The Presidential Committee on the North-east Intervention (PCNI), will tomorrow present its brief on the North-east marshal plan at a stakeholders forum being organised by the National Emergency Agency (NEMA) and the Vice President’s Office in Maiduguri, Borno state.
The PCNI, under the leadership of General T. Y. Danjuma (retd), will also present the master plan to the world at a global conference scheduled for the first week of December.
According to a statement by the spokesman of the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE), Odutayo Oluseyi, the committee is to ensure all stakeholders in humanitarian emergency relief and socio- economic assistance in the North –east, keyed into the plan designed to ensure, streamlined and well mapped interventions.

The statement quoted the Vice Chair of PCNI and Chairman Presidential Initiative for the North-east (PINE), Prof. Soji Adelaja, as saying that a web-based Data Management System (DMS), www.pinedata.org.ng, had been developed by PINE.
He said: “This online dashboard will serve the purpose of mapping all activities of our stakeholders through a GIS display system which displays real time data of interventions. All Stakeholders of the region, particularly NGOs and INGOs, will be required to upload their programs/activities to this portal.”
He said this would ensure comprehensive harmonisation and coordination of humanitarian emergency relief and all socio-economic interventions.

“The system also affords greater visibility, easy impact assessment, easy coordination, ensuring that resources are maximised and duplication of interventions in the region are easily avoided”, he added.
He further said a component of the marshal plan provides a 12-month programme through which NGOs and INGOs intervening in the North-east would benefit from a grant system, aimed at increasing the positive impact of NGO activities in the region.
He also stated that a six-month training programme, equally developed under the North-east marshal plan to build capacities in reporting, monitoring, financial management etc; would kick-off subsequently.

He encouraged all NGOs, INGOs and stakeholders intervening in the North-east to avail themselves of the opportunity provided at the forth coming stakeholders forum, themed: “Coordination, Communication and Cooperation”; thereby fostering the federal government’s drive towards peace and rapid redevelopment of the North-east.
