The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has concluded plans to hold a one day national prayer for Nigeria tagged “Recover Nigeria.”
A statement issued by CAN’s General Secretary, Musa Asake, yesterday in Abuja said the decision became necessary following the growing concern about the security situation in the country.

He said all state chapters of the association had been directed to coordinate the prayers at designated locations in all states of the federation.
According to the statement, the prayer session will hold simultaneously in churches across the country on May 16 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
It said: “Due to the current security situation in our country, the CAN President has directed that a national prayer programme tagged `Recover Nigeria’, be held all over the nation.

“All the state CAN are implored to please mobilise Christians from all church groups in their states for this programme and it is expected to run at the same time all over the country.

“This is to enable all Christians to go on their knees and cry out to the Lord to save our nation from the current security challenges.”
The prayer session in Abuja would be led by the CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, and would be attended by national officials of the association and the FCT chapter at the National Christian Centre.

CAN expressed confidence that prayers would help the country to overcome its current challenges, particularly the reign of terror.
The association urged all Christians to actively participate in the forthcoming programme as part of its contributions to the fight against insurgency in the country.
