Boko Haram: 5,247 Muslims killed, N81.6bn lost in 7 LGAs of Adamawa – Council

Adamawa state chapter of Muslim Council has said no fewer than 5,247 Muslims lost their lives in the Boko Haram crisis that affected seven local government areas of the state.
A report on the crisis signed by the branch chairman of the council, Alhaji Abubakar Sahabo Magaji and Secretary General, Alhaji Ismaila Moddibo Umaru, indicated that some 5,161 Muslims sustained various degrees of injuries.
The report indicated that 12, 732 Muslims properties, including houses, mosques, livestock and farm produce worth N81.6 billion were destroyed in the affected local government areas of Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Mubi North, Mubi South, Hong and Gombi.
The report said that Madagali local government has the highest number of the dead with 2,500 persons while Hong has the least number with 68.
Michika local has the highest number of properties lost worth N23.3 billion while Maiha has the least with N157 million worth of properties.
The report which was presented to the state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Bindow, recommended among others, support for the victims by the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative and reconstruction of places of worship and Islamiya schools destroyed.
It also recommended beefing of more security personnel and financial support to local vigilante groups assisting the military in the fight against the insurgency.
