Bizman sues Dangote over personal injuries

An international businessman, Isaac Imasuagbon has dragged the Dangote Cement Works Ltd before an Federal Capital Territory  High Court in Gudu over personal injuries and loss of business he suffered as a result of an accident with the company’s truck.
In the suit filed by his counsel Oghenovo Otemu, Imasuagbon is demanding the sum of N2 billion general damages, and N50 million cost of treatment of his injuries.
He further demands payment of N15 million cost of the litigation and a monthly interest of 10 per cent of the judgment sum until fully liquidated.
Imasuagbon claim that on November 14, 2013 while he was travelling with his brother along Uromi-Agbor public highway, a Dangote Cement truck with registration number: KBT 99 XA rammed into a Mercedes Benz S550 and Range Rover Amoured Car one of which he was inside.

According to Imasuagbon, the impact of the crash, which he claimed was due to reckless driving, caused life-threatening injuries to him and affected his spinal cord.

He was initially rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), and because of the severity of the injuries, he was referred to a hospital in the United Kingdom. He claims he was further transferred to a hospital in the United States.

The businessman avers that in the course of his over one year undergoing treatment, he expended about N50 million, and lost several business opportunities worth N2 billion.

He further submits that he has now lost his means of livelihood due to the physical injuries he sustained in the accident.
The suit with number: CV/1987/15, which has been assigned to Justice Abubakar Talba, which  comes up on June 23 for hearing.
